Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA)

Sunny Brook Stables is proud to participate in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), the nation's largest youth equestrian organization. IEA provides students in grades 4–12 with the opportunity to compete in English equitation without the requirement of horse ownership. In the IEA format, riders draw horses provided by the host team and meet their mounts only moments before competing, allowing success to be based on horsemanship, adaptability, and equitation rather than familiarity with a particular horse.
Since joining the IEA, the Sunny Brook Stables team has consistently demonstrated dedication, sportsmanship, and competitive success.
Team AccomplishmentsSecond Season
  • Team Champion placing at our opening show of the season.
  • Three riders qualified for the Regional Championships.
  • One rider advanced to the Zone Championships and earned High Point Rider honors for the season.
Third Season
  • Expanded to include both Upper School and Middle School teams.
  • Three riders qualified for the Regional Championships.
  • Successfully hosted our inaugural IEA horse show.
Fourth Season
  • Two riders qualified for the Regional Championships.
  • One rider advanced to the Zone Championships.

Beyond competition, participation in IEA develops confidence, sportsmanship, adaptability, teamwork, and horsemanship. Riders learn to successfully partner with unfamiliar horses while demonstrating the skills, balance, and communication developed through their training at Sunny Brook Stables.

Our team is open to members of the local community in grades 4-12, provided that the rider can participate in two practices per week. If you are interested in learning more about our IEA team, contact us today!  We also participate in local schooling shows and virtual online shows. All SBS Teams are by invitation only.
