Friends of the Barn "Friends of the Barn" Horse Sponsorships at Red Heart Horse Retirement, Rehab, & Rescue help provide the necessary care for our special needs horses. Through these special sponsorships, donors are able to choose one of the Red Heart Horses to sponsor, meet, and learn all about their stories.
Horsemanship Heroes Horsemanship lessons include learning the stewardship, leadership, and relationship skills needed to form a harmonious and trusting relationship with the horse. Horsemanship includes learning horse leading, grooming, tacking, communication, lunging, and other skills related to ground-work with the horse. All volunteers must complete at least two horsemanship lessons before volunteering. Horsemanship lessons are available for heroes ages 14 and up. Two horsemanship lessons, 30 minutes each $100 donation
Pony Pals Pony Pals sponsorship is geared towards ages 3-7. The sponsor will be invited to the barn for a "meet & greet" with the Red Heart Horses. The time at the barn will include grooming a horse or pony and learning about how Red Heart Horse supports all of the special needs horses. Please note that this level does not include the opportunity to ride a horse or pony. Maximum number of family guests is the pony pal and one guardian. One Farm Visit & Meet-n-Greet, 30 minutes $100 donation
Stable Friends Stable Friends is geared towards ages 4-14. The sponsor will be invited to the barn for a "meet & greet" with the Red Heart Horses. The time at the barn will include grooming a horse or pony and learning about how Red Heart Horse supports all of the special needs horses. Maximum number of family guests is the stable friend and one guardian. One Farm Visit & Meet-n-Greet, 30 minutes, One Ride, 30 minutes $100 donation
Hoofbeat Heroes Hoofbeat Heroes sponsorship is geared towards children with riding experience, or beginner teens and adults. The sponsor will be invited to the barn for a "meet & greet" and tour. The time at the barn will include educational instruction on horse safety, grooming, and learning about how Red Heart Horse supports all of the special horses. One Farm Visit & Meet-n-Greet, 30 minutes, Two Rides, 30 minutes Two guests may share this package for one visit for one hour. $200 donation
*Please note that all visitors to the barn will need to pre-register and sign a waiver before entering the property and/or interacting with any of the horses.*
Horse Heroes Horse Heroes are our dedicated Red Heart Horse volunteers who help support our special needs horses. Volunteers are selected from our pool of regular sponsors or students after required horsemanship heroes lessons and/or training through Sunny Brook Stables lesson program. Volunteer Roles Include: Grooming & bonding time Stall cleaning & barn chores Pasture and fence upkeep What You’ll Gain: ✔ Time outdoors ✔ Meaningful service ✔ Connection with gentle animals ✔ A community that cares Heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes they carry hay buckets. Join the Herd. Be a Horse Hero. *Volunteers are accepted by invitation only and must be at least 14 years old and able to work independently. Volunteers must complete a minimum of two horsemanship lessons (Horsemanship Heroes) and trainings to become a volunteer.*
